i-Lumograms can be used for various applications. Some of them are described below. Since the media is quite new (first i-Lumogram was made by Geola in 2001), new applications may be found in the nearest future. |
| Portraiture |
|
3D portraits are quite known. Famous people like Queen Elizabeth or Ronald Reagan were memorized on holograms using sophisticated laser equipment. Such kind of equipment is still manufactured by Geola and allows to achieve superb image resolution, but only in one single colour and without any movement. So if you want to have portraits in 3D, motion and colours - ilumography is the only way to do that.

With ilumographic imaging equipment use, spatial portraiture in colour and with subject's movements becomes very easy job. HoloCam portable can be brought to any location where you will perform life shooting. For example, in 2006 Geola's experts came to Holographic Conference in Wales and in two days have memorized the most of conference participants.
In studio shots it is possible to use additional lights and subjects makeup, achieving same results as in modern photography. Like in modern photography you do not need to print digital shots yourself. But unlike flat photographs, iLumography presents subjects in 3D and with motion.

| Museums |
In all museums there are a lot of artifacts that are too precious to be exposed publicly. The only way to such kind of artifacts on exhibitions is to use i-Lumograms. On one i-Lumogram it is possible either to combine three-dimensional images of different artifacts or to show what is inside artifact. For example, mages for the i-Lumogram above were created in computer using original scans of mummy.

Images for the i-Lumogram above were obtained by shooting the real sculptures with HoloCam device. Three sets of frames then were combined in such a way that 1/3 of each shooting would be present in the fileset sent to printer. As a result the modern sculpture of Nike is morphing into original statue and then morphing again into another modern version.
With i-Lumogram it is as well possible to show various historical sites reconstructions - like on the i-Lumogram below. There is visualized computer reconstruction of an ancient building. From left side on the i-Lumogram is visible the building plan from which, when viewer moves to view right i-Lumogram side, grow pillars that are covering with roofs.

| Architecture |
Four dimensional presentations are good tool to show changes in the construction or to present it in a new unusual way. Below are pictures from i-Lumogram designed by Mr. Ikuo Nakamura. Image on this i-Lumogram changes from architectural drawings to complete house and back to drawings, depending on i-Lumogram viewing angle. Series of those drawings-to-building i-Lumograms in size of 30x40cm were printed for one Japanese building company. Such i-Lumograms can be used as a good marketing tool for real estate agents.

For new Lithuanian Telecom building we have imprinted it virtual model while building was not built yet. This i-Lumogram was placed at the installation in theirs all building and was present there during a new building construction period. i-Lumogram (at the left stand's side) was showing how new building will be composed in the city environment. When viewer was walking and looking at it - the changing 3D view of the building was seen. Impression - like you would be driving the car and were looking through its window. The plasma screen at the right wall showed movie about this new building. Design was done by DDB Lithuanian branch. Architectural presentation stand designed for DDB by Mindaugas Ratavicius

| Engineering |
In modern engineering all design work is mainly done with various computer aided design (CAD) programs. Using those programs is possible to construct very complicated machines and their parts. However, before iLumography, it was not possible to present such design results in a hard copy form. For a very long time three dimensional engineering work results were observed as flat projections on computer monitor, or as three-dimensional shapes on same computer monitor using polarizing or anaglyphic glasses. Recently, the 3D displays made possible to view machinery work in 3D without glasses, but hard copy of such visualization is possible to achieve only with i-Lumogram.

On a i-Lumogram above is shown the bullet loading and shot process inside revolver. Such kind of i-Lumogram are good and inexpensive tool in engineering education. Please note that i-Lumogram in size 18x24 can be printed almost from any movie that contains slow motion. |

i-Lumography is the only way to obtain a hard colour copy of tomographic or magnetic resonance data. Instead of images of live or virtual scenes, we are submitting to our printer series of tomographic or magnetic resonance images. As a result, all those images are present on final i-Lumogram and can be viewed under different viewing angles. For better viewability natural colours can be automatically added to each image before printing. Below is the photographs of i-Lumogram printed from tomographic scan of lungs. Photographs were shot under different viewing angles.
i-Lumograms can be used as medicine teaching tool. At the moment insides of human body are shown in classes mostly by using plastic moulds and/or computer presentations. On an i-Lumogram it is possible to show the same body insides in a more simple and natural way without any sophisticated equipment. For example, on the i-Lumogram below is imprinted a human muscles and blood vessels position under skin. When i-Lumogram is viewed from different angles, different parts of face are seen morphing to each other, giving a full picture of how body parts are connected and how they are interacting with each other.

Four i-Lumograms in size of 1m x 1.2m were produced for Puma Canada campaign for their Ferrari branded foot wear presentation to market during the Montreal Grand Prix in June 2005.
Approximately 200 people leaving the store at 954 rue Ste-Catherine Ouest were interviewed and asked to fill out a questionnaire over a period of three days from Friday to Sunday. The results were processed and statistically analyzed using the STAT-XP package.
